Eight years ago the California craft beer scene in Berkeley changed for the better with the introduction of Fieldwork Brewing Co. But how did the journey being? Co-Owner Alex Tweet entered a home brewers contest Ballast Point Brewing Co. hosted in San Diego and won and took the industry by surprise with his entry that soon became a release to the markets known as Indra Kunindra. Fast forward to their first year and the Berkeley based brewery made history ever since. Here we are today helping Fieldwork celebrate 8 years of success.

What to expect from Fieldwork this week:

8×8 DDH Westcoast DIPA | 8.0%

Everyone is always claiming seven as their lucky number, but let’s be real, seven is overrated; eight is the number! Dark Side Of The Moon, Sgt Peppers, Disintegration, and Automatic For The People were all 8th albums. Ovechkin, Iniesta, Lindros, Ripkin, Yastrzemski, and Stargell, all donned the number 8. As much as year eight for us feels like year 80, we’re really enjoying what we’re doing more than ever. To celebrate eight years we picked a medley of eight hops and submerged them into an eight percent DDH Westcoast DIPA. Some hops in cryo form, and some in traditional pellets, but all of them perfect for a Westcoast DIPA that rains down notes of fresh citrus, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, fruit punch, spring blossom, passionfruit, kumquat, pineapple, and a jar full of dank kush. [hops: Mosaic, Nelson, Cascade, Enigma, Idaho7, Loral, El Dorado, and Sultana]

Super Saint Thomas DDH Double IPA | 9.6%

Super Saint Thomas is not just an Imperialized version of our Mosaic IPA “Saint Thomas,” it’s a double dry-hopped Happy Birthday to the man we could not have built this brewery without. This beer opens up with a barrage of freshly made tropical fruit salad, bellowing from the glass like a smoke signal from the Vatican. honeydew, citrus, fresh green grapes, and hints of under-ripe pineapple and freshly harvested marijuana dominate the palate in a sticky and resinous manner. Shockingly clean and restrained in malt character for a Double IPA of this size, letting the Mosaic hop character slam-dance all over the palate, finishing with an assertive yet refreshing note of freshly cut ruby red grapefruit. Super Saint Thomas will only be brewed once a year, so grab a glass while you can and raise it to our friend; the man, the myth, the Saint… Thomas Harley. [hops: Mosaic]

Pulp IPA | 6.9%

Dating back to 2016 Pulp originated as a sister beer to our Pulp Free Westcoast IPA, except for Pulp we drop the bittering additions and package it without any fining agents, leaving it turbid and creamy. Using a much more fruit-focused yeast strain this IPA kicks-off complimentary esters of over-ripe peaches falling from a tree that pairs perfectly with its juicy Citra hops. While none of our beers are filtered, PULP exemplifies this with the appearance of an opaque monster that adds a nice juicy mouthfeel to the beer, making it stick to the palate in an aggressive nature. The abundance of Citra hops creates an aromatic bombardment that smells like a Sunday drive through a citrus orchard in peak of season; with notes of fresh squeezed orange juice, lemonhead candies, peach candy rings, and juicy sweet mango trekking from the first sniff to the last sip. Pulp delivers just what we want, pure juicy hop deliciousness in its most natural of forms. [hops: Citra]

Salted Blueberry Gose | 4.8%

There was about a 5 month period where Gose had its moment in the sun, everything was coming up Milhouse for the tart, salty style, and refreshing style; and then out of nowhere, like it was impersonating Hoffa, Gose disappeared without a trace. Always being ones to swim against the current, we’re not leaving Gose to fade away in our quiver of Sours. For the Salted Blueberry rendition we brewed up a fairly traditional Gose and fermented it loads of blueberries to compliment the tart and salty base that makes this Sour style stand out all on its own; with refreshing and effervescent notes of fresh sourdough bread, sea salt, lemon peel, and fresh blueberries. [contains: Blueberries, French Grey Sea Salt]
