SO WHAT IS NON ALCOHOLIC BEER?

Low-alcohol beer is beer with little or no alcohol by volume that aims to reproduce the taste of beer while eliminating or reducing the inebriating effect, carbohydrates, and calories of regular alcoholic brews. Low-alcohol beers can come in different beer styles such as lagers, stouts, and ales. Low-alcohol beer is also known as light beer, non-alcoholic beer, small beer, small ale, or near-beer.

INTRODUCTION

I’ve been drinking craft beer for over 15 years. If I had to be honest my days of hardcore chugging in my twenties is over… while kind of, it all depends if my favorite sports team wins a championship and while then I’d have to chug one for the boys. None the less back to the topic of this story, my body isn’t the same, I’m getting older and pick when I want to drink rather then; oh I’m drink after a hard day at the office or kill a sixer on thirsty Thursday, with this being said there are days I do want to kill a sixer so don’t get me wrong but that feeling of having to wake up hung over when I have things to do in the morning is just dreadful. But with the trend that has been going on for a few years now has surprisingly got bigger via reports. And with this trend I once looked at as a joke has me rethinking myself in 2025. I don’t see myself not drinking alcoholic beer, but I do see myself slowly walking the N/A path someday. Hell I may even start this year just to try when I want a beer but not the buzz.

NON ALCOHOLIC BRANDS TO CHECK OUT.

UNTITLED ART – The guys and gals at Untitled Art have been making NA beers for a while. I remember when I’d order beer when I managed a beer shop always seen their NA selection while a lot of craft brands didn’t dare to test those waters. If I had to say who were the trendsetters to this in the craft beer scene it would be them. With 7 year round offerings, 4 seasonal beers, and 7 retired NA beers they really have put in the work and are still going strong. I’ve always been a fan of their beer and I definitely will say they’re one brand to check out for NA beer.

FIELDWORK BREWING CO. – Man if you asked any of my beer friends what brewery I held it done for in my days it would have to be Fieldwork, their second year as a brewery I went to every can release in Berkeley and even started the hashtag #FieldworkArmy. It’s crazy to see how much they have grown. From day one till now the change in direction of marketing to branding has been top tier and to be honest I never thought I’d see the day they traveled down the NA beer scene. If they are NA beers are as good as their alcoholic beers than damn they will change the game. I definitely want to check their NA line up which includes 3 beers so far.

BREWDOG – if you don’t know Brewdog then you’re probably new to the game. These guys were trendsetters when I got into beer like their infamous Tactical Nuclear Penguin and a 55% abv they stuffed into a dead squirrel. But Brewdog also is a part of many breweries making non-alcoholic beer and if these are as good as their core line of beer that contains alcohol than I’m sure they will be a must pick up for craft beer drinkers looking to ride the NA train.

SIERRA NEVADA – The boys and girls out in Chico are know for being the originators to craft beer. Who hasn’t had a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Torpedo. Man Sierra Nevada is a staple to the beer game and I can say I love their beers and will never get tired of them no matter how many slushy beers I drink. Over the years they branched out to adding more lighter beers to their core selection and seasonal offerings like when they first released Otra Vez. So I guess making beer without alcohol was bound to happen when you want to continue to remain at the top. If and when I do buy my first NA beer I’m definitely making sure it’s a Sierra Nevada and especially when it comes in sixers or a variety pack.

LAGUNITAS BREWING CO. – Their can’t be non-alcoholic beer if Lagunitas isn’t making one right? I mean hell I definitely seen this coming when it first dropped. I wasn’t mad either. Lagunitas took the craft beer scene by storm when they released their hoppy water sparkling Bev years back which was freaking amazing and who can’t forgot their Hi-Fi cbd/thc and Hi-Fi thc infused sparkling water which I will say put me on my ass when I drank it. I’m actually glad to see big brands like them do this because it makes not being sad drinking NA beer from brewers who don’t put the effort into them just because they are NA beers. Like Lagunitas IPA? Don’t want to get drunk? While here you go.
